Professional Development Hours

The purpose of professional development is to foster professional growth so we can best meet the needs of our students. It is also important to remember that according to DESE, most certified staff members must complete at least 15 hours of high-quality professional development each year. Failure to do so may result in the expiration of your teaching certificate. The required 15 hours of professional development will be provided for you during the faculty workshop days. However, it is always encouraged that you seek additional professional development hours outside of the district. All certified staff members must submit a Golden Hawk form to document their high-quality professional development hours. This form must be submitted to the Professional Development Committee by the end of the school year. When completing your Golden Hawk form, keep in mind that the fiscal school year is from July 1st to June 30th. Also note that 1 college credit hour is worth 15 professional development hours.
